Cycle to work

The Cycle to Work scheme was introduced in 1999 – the aim being to encourage people to make healthier and more environmentally friendly lifestyle choices.

You can use the bike and equipment to cycle to work, and in leisure time.

Employers buy bikes and lease them to employees to cycle to work on. The employer recoups the bike cost though employee salary sacrifice (a monthly deduction from gross salary). Employees make savings on their tax contributions.

All company Employees qualify for the scheme, providing that they are UK taxpayers via the PAYE system and over 16 years of age. Earnings must remain above the level of national minimum wage after the salary sacrifice has been deducted. Employees under the age of 18 would need a guaranto to be able to participate. Self-employed individuals are not permitted to take part in the scheme.
